PROVIDENCE, R.I. - In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Governor Chafee Wednesday plans to announce the creation of a new license plate, to be known as the Gloria Gemma Foundation plate.

The new plate will be unveiled at 4:45 p.m. in a ceremony at the State House to be attended by Sen. M. Teresa Paiva Weed and Rep. Thomas Winfield, who sponsored legislation creating the plate.

The new plate is available for $41.50. Of that amount, $20 from each plate application will be donated to the state Department of Health's women's Cancer Screening Program, which provides mammograms for uninsured and underinsured women between the ages of 40 and 49.
